Frequently asked questions

Is Main's World free?

Yes. You get a fresh batch of energy credits every day at no cost. There's an optional small top-up for extra voice on a busy day, but you never have to pay to take part.

Do I have to give my name or email?

No — and you can't, because Main's World never asks. Your identity is confirmed as "a real, unique human" without revealing who you are. See the worlds & privacy.

If it's anonymous, how are there no bots?

That's the core idea. When you join, World App confirms you're a real, unique person using a zero-knowledge proof — cryptography that proves you're human without exposing your identity. Each real person can hold only one account, so bots and fake accounts simply can't exist here, even though everyone's private.

Can I message people?

Yes — if you've connected with them. Connected Mains can open a conversation in World Chat, World App's end-to-end encrypted messenger, straight from Main's World. Messaging stays between people who chose each other in person; there are no cold messages from strangers. See the worlds & privacy.

Is my data being sold or used for ads?

No. Main's World has no advertisers — the people using it are who it's for, not the product being sold. There's no name or email to sell in the first place.

What makes a "tape" different from a normal post?

A tape is anchored to a real place and a real time. That's what turns Main's World into a map you can travel through — you can rewind to see what happened somewhere at an earlier moment. See Tapes.

What is $MAIN? Can I cash it out?

$MAIN is the currency you earn when other real people appreciate what you made. Today it lives inside the app as a way of recognizing genuine appreciation. Trading or cashing it out as a real asset is not live and won't be until it's proven safe and reviewed. See the economy.

Can I buy my way to the top?

No. You can buy energy credits (voice), but you can't buy $MAIN, and you can't appreciate yourself. The only way up is other real people valuing what you make.

Who runs this knowledge base?

The community. Every page is openly editable on GitHub — see Contribute. The app itself is made by the Main's World team.

How do I actually use the app?

Open mains.world in World App to get started.
