Signing in
Main's World has no password, no username to remember, and no email to confirm. Your phone is your key.
On your phone
Open mains.world inside World App. World App confirms you're a real, unique person, and you're in — without ever telling Main's World who you are. That's the whole sign-in.
If you're new, see the worlds & privacy for what being "verified and anonymous" actually means.
On a computer
You can also use Main's World in an ordinary web browser on a laptop or desktop computer. Because signing in happens through World App, and World App lives on your phone, the computer asks your phone to vouch for it.
Here's how it goes:
- Open mains.world in your browser and do anything that needs an account — posting, for example. A card appears with a square code (a QR code) and a short four-character code underneath it.
- Scan the square with World App on your phone.
- Your phone opens a page asking whether you want to sign a computer in. It names the browser it's being asked about and shows the same four characters the computer is showing.
- Check that the four characters match, then approve. The computer signs itself in a moment later.
If you decide it wasn't you, choose the "wasn't me" option instead and the code dies immediately. Codes are good for a few minutes and work only once — if yours runs out, the computer will offer you a fresh one.
Only approve a code you can see yourself
This is the one part worth reading twice.
Approving a code hands that browser access to your account — your moments, your Mains, your credits. So approve only a code that is on a screen in front of you, on a computer that is yours.
If someone sends you a code, reads one out to you, or shows you a page and asks you to scan it, say no. There is no situation where another person needs you to approve a sign-in code for them. That is true of every service that works this way, not just this one.
The four-character check exists to make this a deliberate choice rather than a reflex: you're confirming this computer, the one you're sitting at.
What's different on a computer
Almost everything works the same: the map, posting, appreciating, comments, connections, crews and vibes.
Two things stay on your phone, because they need your World App wallet:
- Topping up energy credits. Buying credits happens through World App.
- The Vault. Claiming $MAIN needs a check that only World App can make.
You'll simply not see those options in a browser, rather than find them and hit a wall. Your daily free credits still arrive as normal, and you can spend them from either place.
How long a computer stays signed in
A signed-in computer stays signed in for about half a day, then asks again — a good deal shorter than your phone, because a computer is more likely to be shared or left open.
You can sign out from the computer at any time. There is currently no way to sign a computer out remotely from your phone, so if you've used a machine you don't control, sign out before you walk away.
