Vibes

A vibe is a live gathering on the map — a get-together that people show up to and add to, in real time. If a moment is a single beat, a vibe is a beat that lots of people are living at once.

Hosted, never owned​

This is the important part, and it's a little different from anything you've used before. A vibe can have hosts: the Main who starts one is always a host, and can name others — any of their accepted connections, or a crew they belong to. Hosting is credit, not control over people. Hosts are named on the gathering so the ones behind it are visible, and a host never decides who can see or join it. What hosts do get is the housekeeping and the credit:

  • The cover. A host can set the gathering's cover image — the picture at the top of its page. Until someone does, the cover shows the vibe's spot on the map, and once moments start arriving, the latest published one.
  • The invite links. A host can switch off the vibe's invite links for everyone at once (more under "Let people watch from outside" below).
  • A share of the appreciation. When a moment recorded at the vibe earns appreciation, the hosts share in it — see The economy for exactly how.

None of that changes the rules of a gathering itself:

  • A vibe isn't normally alive until people join. Anyone can start one, but another Main normally has to join before it comes to life.
  • A vibe ends on its own. There's no owner keeping it running and no page that lingers empty forever. A vibe wraps up when the last person leaves, when it reaches the end time it was given, or after about two hours of quiet — whichever comes first. One nobody joins at all gives up after ten minutes.
  • Bigger gatherings look bigger. A vibe's footprint on the map grows with the number of people there.

Moments feed the vibe​

When you're at a vibe, the moments you record become part of its story, and they take on the vibe's world (SKY, LAND, or DEEP). A vibe is the shared thread; the moments are the beads on it.

They also stay inside the vibe while it's running. Everyone at the gathering sees them in its live story, but they don't go out onto the map, and people looking in from outside don't see them at all. What happens at the vibe stays there until you say otherwise.

The heart and the vibe talk​

Besides its moments, every vibe has two small social touches of its own:

  • The heart. One tap that says the gathering itself was worth having. The first time you ever heart a particular vibe, it costs one energy credit and gives 1 $MAIN shared by the people who make the gathering what it is: half goes to the vibe's hosts and half to its attendees, split evenly within each group, with you — the one giving the heart — always left out of the sharing. After that first one, you can take your heart back and give it again freely — the credit is only ever spent once, and what the room earned stays earned.
  • The vibe talk. A comment thread that belongs to the gathering as a whole, not to any one moment. Leaving a comment costs one energy credit, like any comment. Comments in the talk can be hearted too, under the same rule as the vibe's own heart: your first heart on a particular comment costs one credit and gives 1 $MAIN to the Main who wrote it.

As everywhere in Main's World, appreciation never pays the person giving it: hearting your own vibe or your own comment spends the credit but mints nothing. The details live in The economy.

When it's over, you decide what leaves​

A vibe ending doesn't publish anything. Once the lights go out, the moments you recorded there are yours alone — nobody else can see them, not even the people who were with you — and each one waits for you to make a call:

  • Put it on the map, where it becomes an ordinary moment in the vibe's world and joins the vibe's recap.
  • Bin it, and it's gone.

Nothing publishes itself and nothing deletes itself. Moments you don't decide about stay private for as long as you leave them there, and the app keeps asking until you do.

The recap reel​

An ended vibe leaves a recap reel behind for 30 days: a short, tap-through story of what the gathering was — how many moments, how many people, how long it ran, and then the published moments themselves, in the order they happened. A busy vibe doesn't play all of them; the reel picks the most appreciated handful, so it stays a highlight reel rather than an archive.

The reel only ever plays published moments. Anything still waiting on someone's decision isn't in it, and never will be unless that person puts it on the map. So the reel fills out as people work through what they shot — which is why it's worth doing your own decisions before you watch it. Photos show as they were posted, and video moments play right in the reel, silently, on a loop.

You don't have to catch the reel the moment the lights go out. Backstage — your settings and profile area — has a Past vibes shelf listing every vibe you were on whose reel is still within its 30 days, newest first, and tapping one plays it. The reel also has a share button: it hands out the vibe's own link, the same one that invited people while the gathering was live. After the vibe ends, that link plays the reel instead — and it works for anyone holding it, no account or sign-in needed. For a vibe in one of the more private worlds, the shared link quietly carries a special link — the same revocable guest pass members could hand out while the vibe was live — so the person you send it to can watch the reel too. Special links for a vibe stay available to its members for the reel's whole 30 days, and a host can still kill them, which cuts off every copy at once.

After 30 days the vibe and its reel are gone for good. The moments people published live on as ordinary moments on the map; the gathering itself doesn't linger.

Plan a vibe ahead​

A vibe doesn't have to start right now. On LAND and DEEP — your connections' world and your private one — you can set one up like an event:

  • Pick a start time, up to 60 days out. Until then the vibe waits on the map as a countdown pin, and joining it is an RSVP — everyone who joined is on it the moment it goes live.
  • Pick an end time, if you want one. With an end stated, the vibe runs until then and wraps up on time. Without one, it fades on its own once the gathering goes quiet.
  • Pick a place. A vibe normally drops right where you're standing. For a planned vibe, search for a nearby venue or full address, or choose the exact spot under the crosshair on the map. Search follows the part of the map you're viewing, which makes it easier to find the right local result.

Vibes in the public SKY always start right now — a public broadcast is a live thing.

Browse what's happening​

The VIBES list works like a small agenda. It keeps nearby gatherings together before the global list. Inside each group, it separates gatherings that are live now from ones happening today and ones coming later. Planned vibes stay in start time order, so an RSVP does not make the list jump around.

A planned vibe shows its start time and world before you open it, plus its distance from you when location is available.

RSVP with your Mains​

If one of your Mains invited you, the planned vibe shows that you're invited. Tap Count me in to RSVP; once you do, it shows that you're in.

Any person already on a vibe can invite one of their Mains. When your Mains are going too, the agenda may show up to two of their names and pictures. If their names are not available, it uses a generic count instead. It does not name strangers in the compact agenda. Inside the vibe, you and your Mains appear first in the attendance list.

Once you're in — whether you started the vibe or RSVP'd — Add to calendar prepares a private calendar entry for your phone or browser. It includes the vibe's name, start time, optional end time, and place. Main's World does not connect to or read your calendar. The entry can bring you back to the map, but it is not an invitation link and does not give anyone access to a private vibe.

When the doors open​

While a planned vibe you joined is live, it appears in your Main's World notifications as Doors open. If the app is open — or you return while the vibe is still live — it also shows a one-time Enter vibe prompt on that device. Either one takes you straight to the gathering, even when it is in a different world.

These are in-app notices, not phone push notifications while the app is closed.

Find your way there​

Every vibe keeps the full place name and address you selected instead of shortening it to a street name. Tap the location and it opens in your phone's maps app, ready for directions. Calendar entries use that same saved place.

Let people watch from outside​

If you're on a vibe, you can share it as a Vibe invite link — a web link that lets anyone open the vibe in any browser. A valid invite starts visitors as read-only guests, so they can see the same vibe context an authorized viewer can see: live or sealed moments, media, map and time details, comments, and the overall reaction totals.

Guests can watch, but every write — including posting, commenting, or reacting — needs a World App sign-in. The sign-in handoff keeps the same vibe and moment context, but it never posts the action someone had started. If the visitor was already signed in, opening a valid Vibe invite joins them automatically. If they sign in from the guest view, they return to that same place and join then.

This automatic joining applies only to Vibe invite links. Moment links and other special links remain read-only windows, even for someone who is signed in.

When you send an invite link, it previews as the event: the vibe's name, its cover, when the doors open in the venue's local time, and the place. Anyone who sees the message sees that much, so share the link where you'd be happy to announce the vibe. A public SKY vibe's link previews the same way, no invite needed. Once a vibe has ended, or its links are turned off, the link goes back to a plain "A Vibe on Main's World" preview.

Anyone on the vibe can create an invite link, and the vibe shows everyone on it whether a link is currently live. Turning them off is a host's call: a host can revoke all of that vibe's links at once, and every copy stops working. There's more on how special links respect the worlds in the worlds & privacy.
